What I Know for Sure

Updated: 6 days ago

One of my early memories was that at age nine I decided to be a doctor. I was impressed with two people: Dr. Albert Schweitzer and Dr. Thomas Dooley. I saw them as self-less and caring and I knew that that was something I wanted to be. I also wanted to be a ballerina and to become the first Black person to dance the lead in Swan Lake. I was not sure how to bridge the two ideas but I believed that I could do them both. I did not become a doctor; I gave that idea up after marrying and having children but I continued taking ballet lessons until the pandemic hit. (I never did dance in Swan Lake.)

I was not accepted into medical school but was put on a waiting list. Then I went into pharmaceutical sales after college which allowed me to do work that was related to medicine. But that was not enough for me. I decided to go back to school and to get a MSW which let me help people without the tremendous debt of medical school.

I opened an outpatient addictions and behavioral health treatment business that was a Family Counseling Center, The Wellness Center for the Family". Then I went into college teaching full-time where I helped students realize their dreams and often shared tips on lifestyle improvements. Nonetheless, even as a teacher I continued to focus on the wellness of the students with tips on healthy eating, parenting tips, brain health and overall well-being.

Now retired from teaching my private practice focuses on Solution Focused Coaching for individuals and married couples. The running theme is still about wellness so my current offering is an online course, Marriage Miracles: 8 Steps to Strengthen the Sacred Bond using G.O.D.S. P.L.A.N. for Marriage. (You can contact me for a copy of the 8 Steps by sending me an email with a request for the 8 Steps. You will be on a mailing list for my newsletters.

So what do I know for sure? I know that I have lived my life consistent with my personal values of wellness, and health. I have lived consciously and intentionally according to the Promise found in 3 John 2: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. I want to help you to discover and to live according to your purpose for your marriage, for your life.
